Walking and hiking
The Portes du Soleil and the Haute Savoie offer walks and nature trails in the summer and amid lovely winter weather.
There are literally hundreds of recognised walks at all levels, some which are even suitable for wheelchair users such as around Lake Montriond. Our favourite route is the Tour de Mount Ouzon, which starts at les Iris and where you get views over Lac de Leman and Mont Blanc. If you are planning on just a short walk or on conquering a peak, it won’t take you long to discover many wonderful villages of the valley, with their traditional architecture as well as stunning flora and fauna.
Walking leaflets in French and English are available in Les Iris and all tourist offices of the Vallee d’Aulps or click here to download walks in the area.
You can also buy walking maps at local shops in the area and at Decathlon in Thonon-Les-Bains.
If you would like to try new routes or an a more challenging level, consider to hire a guide. Click here for more information.
