For something a little more challenging than the nursery area; there are the upper slopes in Drouzin le Mont. Take a 360º video tour of a crossover of blue and red runs on the upper slopes.
Drouzin le Mont has its own ski schooland several ski hire shops. The low-cost ski pass is obtainable from ticket office close to the top of the nursery slope and the main car park. There is plenty of free parking available.
For some guests the location and good value of the skiing here means that trips further afield are not necessary.
Remember, there are several other small family friendly resorts close by which offer the similar uncrowded and relaxed opportunities, such as Abondance and Saint Jean d’Aulps.
For the more experienced and adventurous the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest linked ski areas in the world with over 650km of prepared pistes is only a 20 minute drive away. The nearest resort is Morzine with direct access to the high level resort of Avoriaz with its long and sometime, hard runs and excellent snowboard park.
You get the easiest access from the Ardent lift, 20 minutes by car from the Drouzin le Mont. The large car park is free and from here you can take the 10 man telecabin up to Les Linderets to the beginner’s slopes. You can continue to Avoriaz, which features spectacular snowboard parks, tree lined pistes that meander through dramatic cliffs; excellent skiing and boarding in all directions including the Swiss resorts of Les Crosets and Champery. If you choose to go the other way towards Morzine and Les Gets with endless opportunities for a huge range of abilities.
There are of course all the other winter activities on your door step, snowshoe walking, which is fun for everyone, tobogganing, cross-country or telemark skiing. There is a great area for sledging next to the nursery slopes, so remember to bring your sledges or you can hire one from the shop. For very small children that are learning to ski is also a pull rope available next to the sledging area, which parents are allowed to use for their little ones.
Or you can relax and have a hot chocolate or glass of wine at the local restaurant.
