Walking

The Portes du Soleil and the Haute Savoie offer walks and nature trails in the summer and amid lovely winter weather.

There are literally hundreds of recognised walks at all levels, some which are even suitable for wheelchair users such as around Lake Montriond. Our  favourite route is the Tour de Monzon, which starts at les Iris and where you get views over Lac de Leman and Mont Blanc. If you are planning on just a short walk or on conquering a peak, it won’t take you long to discover many wonderful villages of the valley, with their traditional architecture as well as stunning flora and fauna.

Walking leaflets in French and English are available in Les Iris and all tourist offices of the Vallee d’Aulps.

2 nice walks for the whole family are:

Seytroux a la loups: A discovery trail for the whole family

This gentle, 2 hours walk is a signposted tour with games and puzzles for all ages. The tour starts at the Seytroux minigolf. The kit is for sale in French and English in all tourist offices fo the Vallee d’Aulps for €3.

Le Biot: treasure hunt in the tracks of the mysterious Uncle Jaques

This is a gentle 2 hour walk in Le Biot village. A game book is for sale in all tourist offices of the Vallee d’Aulps (€1.50).

Please be careful in the winter, check the weather forecast before you go for a walk as the weather can change quickly. Please respect your surroundings and take rubbish home with you.
