Skiing New Year – December 2012 / January 2013
For the second consecutive year we have enjoyed our stay at Les Iris with two families.
A beautiful ski area, Les Portes du Soleil, with plenty of opportunities for beginners and advanced skiers is only a short distance.
The apartment with stunning views offers enough space for 11 people and has an excellent price-quality ratio.

Winter break – December 2012
Very nice place, almost in the middle of the mountains! 🙂 The house is very nice and has a nice view on the mountain. Very well furnished so it’s easy to feel at home! Judith and Suzie (the keyholder) were very helpful and reactive, giving tips, advicing to bring the chains for the car, arranging the time to fit our schedule, .. Thank you for everything to them ! 🙂
Summer break. July 2012
Well, it started with letters to Judith. It was my first trip to Europe without booking a hotel, so I was rather excited and worried. And naturally I had a load of questions that I could ask only one person. And Judith answered all of them, properly, deeply and with enthusiasm. Thank you, Judith, so much! Then we came to the place. The view is just amazing! We enjoyed it all throughout the journey and I was extremely sad to leave the apartment! And it is like expecting people coming – there is just everything you could need for the stay! The location of the apartment afforded us to visit lots of placed – we went to Annecy, Montreux and Vevey, Geneve, Losanne and wonderful villages around. I would recomment to rent a car as public transport there is really bad. Apart from that it was a great holiday!
Skiing at Easter in the Portes du Soleil. April 2012
We had a wonderful stay. This was a great place with outstanding views. It was very tough to leave and come back home. The house is located in a nice quiet area, but close enough to all kinds of beautiful villages, both large and small.
Our first clients that did not have their own transport (Drouzin le Mont). February 2012
We had a brilliant time – what a fantastic flat and village. It was so quiet we had runs to ourselves in fresh powder – often times the only ones on the mountain – what more could you ask for with little kids on a holiday as it was safe for them to ski about on their own – easily accessible and no crowded runs – especially on half term week! The flat has plenty of room for us all with space to breathe and the kids adored the nook and there is an excellent array of cooking stuff. We did wander over to Avoriaz and skied to Morzine with all the kids to skate in the evening – along with Husky sledding we couldn’t ask for more really. I took the older kids to St Jean d’Alpe in the afternoon for some cool/posing skiing and mountain cafes.
Sam was great and drove us about very helpfully.
The snow was fab and the sun shone and all 5 kids are now reasonably confident skiers.

Winter sports in Les Iris (Drouzin le Mont). February 2010
In the spring break we were guests of the apartment and because we liked it so much we want to express this.
We arrived on Saturday after a journey that really went smoothly.
An hour before the navigation indicated that we would arrive, we called Pascal, who receive the guests on behalf of Judith and Wal.
When we arrived at our apartment, it was warm and everything was all connected.
The apartment was quickly divided and there was for everyone a nice sleeping place, we were with a group of 9 people so I can recommend the apartment to anyone travelling with a group.
When the bags were unpacked, we collected the children’s skis in Morzine. We had already ordered these in the Netherlands, which is very easily done through http://skiverhuur.twinner-sports.com and we liked the price.
We (I mean our family and my brother and his girlfriend) were this week culinary spoiled by my parents, who used the kitchen frequently.
After we had eaten each evening the dishes went straight in the dishwasher so that is very handy if you enjoy a wonderful holiday.
It is also quite useful with children in winter that there is a washing machine so you can go on vacation without a trailer.
In front of the apartment (1 down stairs) is the ski resort of Drouzin Le Mont, where we skied the first day. This is an area where you can have a lot of fun as a beginner.
This picture was taken from the balcony
The apartment is at 1250 meter altitude so we (as any did fall from the sky) only seen snow.
We continued our vacation in the area of Morzine / Les Gets where the children had a great time at the international ski school.
We stayed only in these places but if you want it is possible in this area to ski for a week and descend different pistes every day.
The ride to Morzine is good to drive and gives you really the feel of winter sports holiday, you really drive in the mountains but the roads are kept very clean. Even the parking lot of the apartment.
En route from Morzine to the apartment or the other way you will find a big Carrefour and the choice, is giant!
To let everyone enjoy the winter feeling what I just described, we have taken two pictures from the balcony.

If you have children in the age that they prefer to have Dutch ski instructors it is advisable to reserve classes in the Netherlands. Our children (6, 10 and 12) have had lessons in English / French and have, although they sometimes had a small language barrier, had a wonderful week, we were in Morzine ESF (French Ski School) where the Dutch teachers provide lesson but they were all occupied, especially in spring break when many Dutch like us find this beautiful area.
What we particularly like to make clear with this article is that you will have a wonderful holiday in this beautiful and spacious apartment in an area where you can enjoy skiing.
To share our fun, a few more pictures of our children, who will remember the holiday with pleasure.
Our children in Pleney, Morzine.
Gerben of 6 years going downhill at ski class.
Here fell fresh snow but that made no difference for the children.
We have also skied in the sun, of course really enjoyable!
Holiday from 20 February to 27 February, 2010
